For over a quarter of a century, John Payne has captivated the imagination of people with his oil paintings.

Memorable moments in time and people and places of interest are his inspiration.

“My intention as an artist is to create images that evoke a feeling of kinship with nature and with one another”. Immersing himself in historical events and people of the past, he focuses on progress, innovation, nostalgic sports and everyday life. Johns passion is to immortalize snap shots of history through his paintings.

John searches through numerous reference archives and compiles an abundance of imagery before he begins his creative process. He incorporates as much detail and realism into his paintings as is possible. This, in turn helps draw the observer into the painted scene. His artwork has a distinct color pallet which has a unique feel to them.

John began painting at an early age and continued his love of oil painting throughout his life. “Traveling both domestically and abroad has given me the opportunity to experience many cultural destinations which has helped me to become a better artist” He is a graduate of the prestigious Maryland Institute College of Art. His works are being enjoyed in private, public and corporate collections around the world.
